What I wish I could do really, looking at the artwork today in my room, is to auction them to both and others for the relief efforts in Haiti but I am afraid that I don’t have the energy and time it would require to make the needed noise. I made a contribution yesterday through the Unicef Website, but I wish I could do more. I hear that the rescue efforts have finally stopped after about twelve gruesome days of looking through the rubble for bodies. Nevertheless, if I get to sell any of these soon, 50% of the profits made from selling them will go to Unicef Website from ktravula.com. It may not be much, but it will help put food one some children’s table for more than one day. Meanwhile, you can still go to the Unicef Website to make your donations. Save a life today.

Eeny Meeny Miny Moe

I’m trying to pick out some of my old photos to print as a large poster for the wall of our apartment. The wall photo idea was not mine, but Chinomso’s. She lives in the building and had dropped by last week to say hi. She looked at the wall of our living room and said that something was missing. We should get a painting and hang it there, she said. Taking the idea from her, I suggested that I would print one of the photos I’ve taken in the past, get it printed as a large poster at Wal-mart, frame it, and hang it on the walls. Now, to choose from a whole lot of photos becomes a problem. Here are ten of my favourites. Please tell me which you think would look best on a cream yellow-coloured wall. How about you give me a list of your best three favourites, in order?

My Resolutions…

in all their 10 megapixels glory.

In lieu of promises of things I would do in the new year (which had, by this morning, included dropping the abbreviation LOL from my 2010 vocabulary, getting a better camera, making more savings, kicking my Papa John’s pizza eating habit, and drawing up new itineraries of new places to visit in the US), I now present my new year resolutions, which are in fact however resolutions from 2009, courtesy of my Canon Powershot SD 1200 IS camera. Some of the photos I’ve shared here before. Some not. For those interested in my photography, let’s catch up on Facebook. But note that I will not confirm friendship with people without profile pictures themselves, except we have known mutual friends. Sorry. :D.

With these, my 2009 is done at last. I may not have been the best Fulbright FLTA this year, but I sure had the most fun.

Winter

The snow today was more than that of Friday in that it was more than two inches high on the ground. Like Friday, I had no idea how and when it started, but I found it on the ground when I pulled apart the curtains in my room. What I did next was unthinkable, as usual. I got into thick clothing, got on my bike and rode into campus to take pictures. Luckily, the sun was still out and my new gloves were comfortable enough to hold the camera with. Anyway, these are the photos from that eventful ride. Let those who said that I won’t be able to ride my bike in the snow/winter show themselves right now. My message for them comes from that famous two-word response from the South Carolina senator. No I won’t repeat it here. 😀

Office Lunch & Audrey’s Goodbye

These are photos from the Bella Milano Christmas office lunch on Friday, and the subsequent send-forth party for Audrey, our French friend at Mafoya’s apartment at Cougar Village later in the evening. Audrey had come to the United States on a programme that requires her to spend only one semester and return home to complete her studies.

As per the lunch, I’d be the first to admit that there are more women in my department than men. We are too far outnumbered.
