I think the book will outlast other competing forms of its "manifestations".

Books are finite, auto-graphical and sometimes autobiographical in nature and they give you a sense that Finite authentic knowledge was captured in time and preserved, at first take, within the bounded covers of a book and can never be altered again . (not that the other manifestations are not authentic compositions, but the book always beat's it every time)

For one thing, can you compare flipping through the pages on a 40 year old leather back print with each new page smelling of musty age old wisdom to reading a blog where you the author could change his mind tomorrow? No :)

Long Live the Book!!! Long Live the Book !!! :)

The book will survive but what form it will be in the next 100 years is what really puzzles me. I wish I can tell.

I completely disagree NOTHING...absolutely NOTHING can beat opening a new book. Sniffing and getting lost in the intoxicating scent of a new book. Dont get me started on old library books. Sometimes I go to the library just to touch books...old ones...I imagine that i am stroking history...a communion with the passage of time. NOTHING...no e-book...no blog can ever match the pleasures of a book.

However, a blog, an e-book, well they are lovely substitutes....

The Iyan-in a bag can be useful, but it can never ever match the burst of bliss of a properly pounded morsel of iyan.

and with that...I am done whining.

XOXO
