I was equally confused when I came to Nigeria. In my opinion Suppe (soup) and Eintopf (stew) should be eaten on their own.You might have bread as a side dish, but that is it. The difference between the two is that stew is thicker than soup. What you eat with eba, rice, amala, etc. is what I call Soße (sauce). It should not be eaten on its own. We eat it with pasta, rice, potatoes etc.
